Mechanical engineering is a broad field across many industries, allowing graduates to work wherever design and manufacturing intersect. US Edition | Semester 2, 3, 4 | On Campus

Students transfer out to the US and spend second, third, and fourth semesters on campus in Cleveland, Ohio.

Students will have the opportunity to apply for on-campus jobs, fellowships and research assistantships, just like other full-time students.

Students will graduate with a degree from the US university and be eligible to apply for a 3-year post-study work visa called Optional Practical Training (OPT), similar to a full-time international student.

Eligibility for MS-ME Pathway Program

An undergraduate 4-year degree. For those with an undergraduate degree in a non-engineering discipline, applicants must demonstrate a strong proficiency in calculus, math and other sciences.

An undergraduate 4-year degree from a regionally accredited academic institution with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.

English Proficiency test is waived off for students applying through Leap.

GRE/GMAT scores are waived off for students applying through Leap.

Some prerequisite courses may be required.

What is the Leap Advantage - CWRU Pathway program?

We have partnered with Case Western Reserve University’s Case School of Engineering for their MS in Mechanical Engineering program. It provides students with hands-on learning experience that will help them excel in one of the fastest-growing fields in the US.

What are the eligibility requirements for this program?

The minimum eligibility requirement is a 4-year undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. Please read more in the eligibility section for more information.

What are the English proficiency and other requirements for this program?

The English proficiency requirement is waived for students applying through Leap. Applicants must prove that English was the teaching medium during their previous education. The GRE requirement is also waived for Leap Advantage students.

For this program, applicants require 16 years of education.

Can Students work during their studies in the US?

Yes, international students on an F-1 visa can work up to 20 hours per week on-campus during the academic semesters. On-campus jobs are competitive, not guaranteed, and typically are not professional-level positions. After receiving admission, students can view campus job openings on the online job board to apply.

What are STEM and OPT?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Students studying in a STEM-designated program can apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT), allowing them to work for 12 months in the US after completing the degree program. The STEM designation of the CWRU Mechanical Engineering program makes students eligible for an additional 24-month OPT extension. With up to 36 months more time to work and network in the US, international students can build valuable professional skills and contacts to help them with their career endeavors.
